9 Unique Travel Trailers That Will Catch Your Eye

If you are in the market for a travel trailer, it’s time to get excited! Travel trailers have come so far in recent years. There is seriously a travel trailer out there for everyone. Keep reading for an overview of the coolest and most unique travel trailers.

What Is a Travel Trailer?

A travel trailer is a towable RV. They are typically smaller than other RVs out there, which makes them easier to tow with an everyday vehicle. Travel trailers range from 10 to 40 feet long. Depending on the size, you can find a travel trailer perfect for a single solo camper or an entire family. They can weigh as little as 1,100 pounds or as much as 11,000 and have a range of prices. It all depends on what you’re looking for.

What Is the Best Brand Name Travel Trailer?

If you’re looking for a top-quality RV that’s reliable, several brands stand out from the crowd. Airstream, Lance, Outdoors RV, and Oliver are a few brands that top the list of best travel trailers. These companies manufacture campers that can withstand the rigors of RV life and last long after your purchase. Additionally, Airstream and Oliver trailers tend to hold their value better than other brands.

Top Eye-Catching Travel Trailers

Gone are the days of boring, boxy travel trailers. Here are the top models bound to catch your eye:

1. Safari Condo Alto

The Safari Condo Alto travel trailer has it all. It is lightweight while being durable and aerodynamic. There are several versions of the Alto trailer, but they all have a few things in common that set them apart from other trailers.

First, they are “green” travel trailers. They minimize drag by using ultralight materials, which helps you save on gas. It also allows you to tow the Safari Condo Alto with a smaller vehicle. Not to mention, most of the materials are recyclable.

They make the roof and walls with a plastic honeycomb core to cut down even further on weight. The coolest of the Alto series is the R series. This teardrop-shaped trailer has a hard-top roof that extends to give you 101 inches (about 8.5 feet) of height when it is open. But it is reduced to just 83.5 inches (about 7 feet) when you retract the roof.

Depending on which version you go for, the Alto can sleep between 3 and 6 people. They all weigh under 3,000 pounds and have all the amenities you would expect in a travel trailer, including a bed, bath, and kitchen.

2. Aliner Grand Ascape ST

This travel trailer has a unique appearance with its rear entry door. While small, like a teardrop camper, the Aliner Grand Ascape ST has all the features you need for comfortable camping. You’ll find a wetbath inside as well as an outdoor shower. The dinette folds into a 77-inch by 72-inch bed, and the kitchen has everything you need to make a meal, including a stove, microwave, refrigerator, and sink.

If you camp in various climates, you’ll appreciate the double pane windows, Atwood 18,000 BTU furnace, and Coleman Mach 8 roof mount air conditioner. The Grand Ascape ST is 14 feet long and weighs only 1,650 pounds unloaded. It sleeps up two people and has an interior height of 6-feet-4-inches.

3. Airstream Basecamp

When you’re driving down the road, it is next to impossible to miss an Airstream. And the Airstream Basecamp is no different with its shiny, smooth aluminum exterior.

The Basecamp takes advantage of flexible storage and floor planning. It gives you all the amenities in just 16 to 20 feet.  It sleeps up to four and includes a wet bath and a kitchen. The living space is convertible to form the bed when you’re ready to hit the hay.

If you love off-roading, the Basecamp has options for you. You can upgrade to the X package to take on any road and drive through even the worst of weather.

4. Lance Enduro Adventure Trailer

The Lance Enduro isn’t what you think of when you imagine a Lance travel trailer. But it might be even better! This unit is perfect for the adventurous soul who wants Lance quality in a minimalist design. It even has solar as a standard feature.

The Enduro adventure trailer sleeps up to two adults on the 72-inch by 80-inch convertible dinette sleeping area. It has a wet bath with a 5-gallon cassette toilet and an outdoor kitchen.

This travel trailer is compact at only 12 feet. However, its dry weight is on the heavier side for a small camping trailer at 3,500 pounds.

5. Oliver Legacy Elite and Elite II

The Oliver Legacy Elite and Elite II pride themselves on being the perfect small travel trailer. Something unique about the Legacy Elite trailers is the double-hulled fiberglass shell. This makes it perfect for camping in any season. The Elite is 18 feet 5 inches long but still includes a full bathroom despite the small space. It has a dry weight of 3,700 pounds.

We also love the option to upgrade to the solar power package. You’ll be ready for boondocking with all the added features.

The Legacy Elite II is very similar but slightly longer than the original Elite. It is 23 feet 6 inches long. It weighs 4,900 pounds dry and has two floorplans to choose from. The Elite II includes a full bathroom as well. The sleeping situation is unique in that one of the floor plans has an option for two twin beds instead of a queen-size bed. This is a rare feature in any RV.

6. Black Series HQ19

The Black Series HQ19 looks tough and rugged on the outside and luxurious on the inside. You’ve never seen a travel trailer that looks quite like this! The lower portion features a diamond plate, and the corners have bash bars to provide extra protection.

The HQ19 has an independent suspension and a dual axle design for a more stable ride. It even comes with two 150-watt solar panels and four 100ah deep cycle batteries.

The interior is super stylish and totally unexpected, given the rugged exterior. The HQ19 features a full kitchen, bathroom, queen-size bed, and even a washing machine. This is very impressive, considering the HQ travel trailer’s interior is just 19 feet long.

If you’re looking for off-road capability in a trailer, Black Series campers are hard to beat.

7. Taxa Mantis Travel Trailer

The Taxa Mantis is an amazing travel trailer for outdoor lovers. It gives you the option to bring the outdoors in. Unlike most RVs, which have sliding windows, the Mantis’ windows flip outwards to open more fully.

It also includes a pop-top for added headroom and airflow. Even the back of this travel trailer opens up wide, similar to how the trunk of a minivan or SUV opens. You’ll feel like you’re sitting outside from the comfort of your living area!

The Taxa Mantis is 19 feet long and is short enough to store inside a standard garage. It weighs 3,115 pounds dry and sleeps four adults comfortably. The Mantis also has a full galley kitchen and a wet bath.

Strikingly, the Taxa Mantis has many features you might expect to see in a van rather than a travel trailer. Its adaptable interior helps you make the most of the space. For example, it has multipurpose storage and a convertible couch/bunk bed system as well. You can even add a rooftop tent to this bad boy so all your friends can get in on the fun.

8. Taxa Cricket Travel Trailer

The Taxa Cricket is super unique because they design it for off-road camping. Many travel trailers aren’t able to handle rough terrain. But not the Taxa Cricket!

It has increased ground clearance, torsion axle suspension, and all-terrain tires. This provides you with a smooth ride anywhere you want to go.

The Taxa Cricket has a lot of other features perfect for boondocking. It is pre-wired for solar power, has an outdoor shower, and a propane stove. It sleeps two adults and two children so everyone can come along for the ride.

The Taxa Cricket has 63 square feet of living area and is 15 feet long. It comes with a pop-top for added headroom and air circulation. The pop-top is definitely a unique feature to see in a travel trailer. It weighs just 1,800 pounds dry, making towing a breeze.

The Sol Horizon has both indoor and outdoor kitchens, a wet bath, and a bedroom. There are two versions, the Base and the Rover. The Rover is upgraded for off-road adventures. Both the Base and the Rover are 19 feet long and have dry weights just under 3,350 pounds.

We own and love our Oliver travel trailer. Since it's fully double hull fiberglass, the inside is like a yacht. In fact, much of the hardware is from the boating industry and the factory assigns hull numbers to each unit. Ours is Hull 505 but her name is Galway Girl.

Love the name! Glad to hear you love your Oliver trailer. :)

LMAO about all the silly names the RV manufacturers give their rigs. There are so many “elites” out there how do we know what’s truly elite? And ferocious animal names....Cougars, Raptors, Falcons, Prowlers and Big Horns. And now we have the Sol and the Taxa.

I’m willing to bet the next wave of new RV names will sound a lot like nonsensical prescription drug names. The Plavax, the Margenza, the Oxlumo, and the Vitepso.
