Saying Goodbye to Mocha
The first part of the update is some very sad news. After several months of fighting cancer, our beloved dog Mocha passed away in May 2021.
Caitlin got Mocha as a puppy when she was a junior in high school. She was her loving, loyal, and constant companion through high school, meeting Tom, college, marriage, first career job, and 6 years of amazing RV adventures.
Mocha traveled across the United States, Canada, and all the way to the Arctic Ocean with us. She saw more places and met more people than many humans do in their lifetimes. She had a full and fabulous 15 years of life and is immortalized in countless YouTube videos, blog photos, and even on international television. We have deep holes in our hearts and lives from her loss.
Rest in peace, sweet Mocha. There will never be another like you, and we will miss you forever. ?

What Happened To The Mortons on the Move YouTube Channel?
Our Mortons on the Move YouTube channel has been a bit on pause this year. Apart from a couple of videos about Testing RV Lithium Batteries, a New Zealand Travel Series teaser trailer, and How We Get Rock Solid Internet, we’ve so far not dedicated much time to this channel in 2021.
One big reason is the aforementioned illness of our dog, which crushed us.
Another is that we have been focusing more on our website over the last 6-9 months. We now produce daily content for the Mortons on the Move blog, which allows us to produce answer more questions and provide more information faster than in video form. We’re very proud of what we’ve built on this website, and hope that you can find answers to your questions here!
You can also sign up for our newsletter to get daily or weekly emails with the latest content, updates, and even original RV cartoons created by Tom’s talented sister, Lainey Yehl.

However, the YouTube channel will start getting some more attention with the start of a new big RV project – more details below.
The RVers TV Show Filming
The RVers TV Show aired its third season on the Discovery Channel, and we are so proud of the amazing job the filming and production crew did!
Find out how to watch the 3rd Season of The RVers (and all the others) here: Everything You Need to Know About The RVers TV Show.
Filming for Season 4 starts soon.
What Happened to Mortons on the Move’s New Zealand RV Travel Series?
Covid and everything else seriously delayed the release of this travel series when we rented RVs in New Zealand for 5 weeks just before the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
Mortons’ New Gigantic Truck and Truck Camper
We have a new truck and truck camper!

After our Go North truck camper experience, we knew a truck camper was in our future. In April 2020, we pulled the trigger on our new Mortons on the Move expedition vehicle.
New blogs and videos will be coming out throughout July and August about the new setup, plus upgrades and mods we are planning. In the meantime, here is some basic information to get you started:
Ram 5500 Truck
The Truck: The truck is a 2011 Ram 5500 flatbed that has been singled out. We bought it from a guy on Kodiak Island in Alaska, shipped it on the ferry, and Tom flew to meet it in Washington and drive it off the ferry.

Bigfoot 3000 Series Truck Camper
The Truck Camper: The camper is a 2000 Bigfoot 3000 series truck camper. Tom drove from Washington to San Francisco, CA to purchase the camper. Then drove it all the way across the country to where the fifth wheel, Cait, and the pups were in Florida.
What’s happening with the Mortons on the Move fifth wheel? We’re keeping it, and it will remain our primary RV. The new truck camper will be our overland getaway vehicle. ?

New Lithium Battery & RV Solar Build
One of the first mods we’re doing is, of course, giving this old rig an electrical makeover! We’re outfitting it with some awesome Battle Born Batteries and solar panels this summer.
So not only will this rig be able to go practically anywhere, but we’ll be able to stay out there longer. We’re excited to be partnering with them on another awesome build with some cool new batteries. More details to come.

New Truck Camper and Overland YouTube Videos
Over the next several weeks we will be releasing videos about the truck, camper, and modifications that we’re making in preparation for our first dedicated truck camper adventure in the fall 2021.
We have plans to travel out west to film a travel series of our first adventure with our new rig and learning its true capabilities, so stay tuned!

In the youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pX8DBUgWofg, the truck tire pressure was reduced to improve the ride and traction over the dirt road. I wonder what the tire's load capability vs. air pressure is? I've found a table of the truck tire vs. load on my F350. With a Lance camper on the truck bed, the tire pressure as rated by Ford is 80/60psi for rear/front. With the camper and the weight distribution, the rear tire can only be reduced to 70psi and front to 45psi.
What'll be your case then? Am I over-conservative?

Your Dodge and Bigfoot rig is very close to the rig that we have been planning on putting together for a little while. We have been watching on and off for that same model of camper to come up for sale, but they coming up less frequently. If you ever think of selling it, or even the whole rig, I’d like to know.
Also, how is the old camper standing up to the rigours of off road travel?
I’d love an update to go with the adventures to now.
Thanks for the interesting content on YouTube.

So far, the rig has held up well while off-roading. We love it! If you haven't watched it yet, check out our latest video where we took the rig through Utah. https://youtu.be/pX8DBUgWofg

One of your videos made mention of a campground in Florida that provided wired internet to each site. Would you be able to provide the name of that campground? Thank you!
