Address: 640 Mineral St, Silverton, CO 81433

About: Silver Summit RV Park is the place to catch the action of the famous Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. It turns around right next to the park. Not only that, but you can also rent Jeeps onsite here and enjoy easy access to all the outdoor activities that Silverton is famous for. There are activities such as off-roading, hiking, fishing, and biking.

Campground Features: All sites include full hookups and firepits. You’ll also find an onsite general store, laundry, showers, free wifi, and even Jeep rentals. Everything you’ll need for your San Juan Mountain fun and relaxation is here at Silver Summit.

Cost to Camp: The season is open May 15 through October 15 with $59 nightly rates for two people.

3. Silverton Lakes South RV Resort

About: Silverton Lakes South RV Resort is the sister resort to Silverton Lakes RV Resort. It is also home to the Creekside Cabin, a 100-year-old gem highlighting the history of this mining town.

Campground Features: While the trails are not in your backyard here, they are only a few blocks away. And you still have access to full hookup sites, bathrooms, and shower houses to make your stay in Silverton quite comfortable after a day on the trails.

4. Molas Lake Park & Campground

Address: US-550, Silverton, CO 81433

About: Molas Lake Park & Campground is the perfect campground that gets you close to nature, yet still just a short drive down the mountain to historic downtown Silverton. Surrounded by acres of forested lands, world-renowned mountain biking and hiking trails are accessible right outside your RV door. 

Campground Features: The amenities here are surely about spending time in nature more than anything. However, you’ll still find hot showers on site, vault toilets, and a camp store.

And while there are no hookups for RVs, you won’t be spending too much time inside. This Silverton, Colorado, RV park is all about what’s surrounding you on the outside.

Molas Lake Park & Campground - Colorado

Cost to Camp: Prices start at $25 for small RV and tent sites and can go up to $67 for large RVs, premium sites, and holiday rates. The season starts June 1.

Prepare for Your RV Trip to Silverton

Situated at 9,318 feet in the remote San Juan mountain range in Southwest Colorado, Silverton is a part of the San Juan Skyway Colorado Scenic Byway. And this isn’t your typical scenic byway because it includes the Million Dollar Highway. If you haven’t heard of this section of US Highway 550, you need to know more about it before heading to Silverton. 

Coming into Silverton from Durango is a challenge in itself with the many switchbacks and mountain passes, but coming into Silverton from Ouray involves driving over this infamous Million Dollar Highway. It is notorious for its 25 miles of hairpin curves, steep cliffs, narrow lanes, and lack of guardrails. But, it’s famous for its stunning mountain views all along the route. 

And traveling from Ouray heading south into Silverton is when you are on the edge of the road, with no guardrails to keep you company. So if that type of driving makes you nervous, planning a different route is a necessity.
